I will be at Elk Run Elementary on both Monday September 28th, 2015 and Tuesday September 29th, 2015 during parent teacher conferences. I would love to meet my fantastic student's great parents! Please stop by the speech room and say hello and see what your child does in speech! If you are unable to make it on those nights, feel free to stop by or call any time! I hope to see you soon!

We are up and running at Elk Run Elementary this year. It has been fun getting to know your children this school year. We started off the year with a getting to know you worksheet where I was able to learn some of your children's favorite desserts, books, and games. At the top of the game list was Minecraft and our number one dessert was ice cream (one of my favorites too!).
I have started sending home homework with some of your students already. The goal for our articulation students is to say 60 words per minute correctly, 30 phrases correctly, or 20 sentences correctly in one minute depending on the level they are working on. Their homework corresponds to what we are working on in speech class. At home, just set a timer for one minute and see how many they can do. Don't worry if they don't reach the target right away. We are working on accuracy and speed. When students do homework, I see much quicker progress in reaching their goal. I have not sent home homework if your student is still trying to learn how to produce the sound in isolation or if your student has language goals. They will come shortly. I have enjoyed getting to know these fantastic students at Elk Run and look forward to getting to know each of you! |
